UFL Power Rankings - Week 8

With one week remaining in the UFL regular season, we've already seen a few high-quality games. The Birmingham Stallions remained undefeated with a win over the defending champions, while the Michigan Panthers and San Antonio Brahmas battled to a thriller. Those results, coupled with some intriguing matchups this weekend, make for another fun week in the UFL. Here's a look at our latest edition of the UFL power rankings.

UFL regular season

Birmingham Stallions

After a slow start to the season, the Stallions have settled in as the best team in the league. They're well-rounded defensively and offensively, and have the kind of players who can do damage on any given play. That's why they should be considered the favorite to win the championship.

Skip Holtz's team will have to be at their best on Saturday in St. Louis, a game that could prove to be a preview of the inaugural UFL title matchup. The two teams feature the league's top scoring and passing offenses, as well as some of its best quarterbacks. It will be a test for a Stallions squad that appeared invincible during the first six weeks of the season.

Arlington Renegades

Despite their poor record, the former XFL champs are still a solid team. They have an experienced roster, good coaching and a talented group of players on both sides of the ball. They are a tough team to beat at home and have some of the best special teams in the league. If they can improve their rushing attack, they may be able to sneak into the playoff picture.

Memphis Showboats

The Showboats have been a disappointment this year. They lost their only road game against the Washington Redskins and struggled at home to the Houston Roughnecks. They have a lot of talent on this team and if they can get things together, the Showboats will be a force to reckon with in the second half of the season.

DC Defenders

The Defenders are the only team in the league with a losing record, but that shouldn't discount their efforts this week. They dominated the Arizona Rattlers on Sunday and had a chance to win a huge upset against the Memphis Showboats, but the game came down to a missed field goal with four seconds left. The defense, led by Frank Ginda and anchored by defensive tackle Breeland Speaks, is playing some of the best football in the UFL.

AJ McCarron was brilliant in his return to the gridiron, connecting on 24 of 37 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. He threw to eight different receivers, including former Oklahoma State star Marcell Ateman. The stout defense -- which features 2023 UFL Defensive Player of the Year Frank Ginda and linebacker Breeland Speaks -- continues to hold opponents to low point totals. The only downside to this team is the offense's struggles on third down, as they are just 4 of 11.
