Warranty Information & Common Questions

General

Q: How do I know if this is covered by your warranty?

A: Please read through the warranty sections about what is covered and what is not covered under our Tradesman Warranty.

Electrical

Breaker’s tripping:

Q: Why is my new breaker tripping more than my old one?

A: You may notice that your new breaker trips more than your old breaker which means it’s actually doing its job.  Code dictates that we use Arc Fault and Ground Fault breakers which are more sensitive to power surges and trips to keep you, and your investment protected.

Q: Why is my smoke detector is chirping?

A: The new code dictated smoke detectors are inner connected to each other and if it’s chirping then that detector has probably lost connectivity with the others. To get it to stop chirping, take if off the ceiling and on the back, there is a red circle.  Use a flathead screwdriver to turn the arrow counterclockwise so the arrow is just to the left on the word on.  Then please email sarah@remodelingdesmoines.com and we will get it fixed for you.

Exhaust Fans:

Q: I can’t hear my exhaust fan. Is it working?

A: We use a whisper quite exhaust fan.  To double check if it is working turn it on, wait a moment, then place a piece of tissue on it and the tissue should stick.

Q: Why does my humidity sensor exhaust fan keep running/turning on even if I haven’t used the shower?

A: When the humidity sensor exhaust fan detects humidity in the air and will automatically turn on to help keep mold and mildew at bay.

Drywall:

Q: I’m noticing a few drywall cracks.

A: Drywall cracks are very common for the 1st year of a remodel with everything settling into place.  We will warranty cracks but ask you wait till the 1 year mark.  This allows a full year of seasons for everything to acclimate.

Cabinetry:

Q: My cabinet drawer seems sticky or doesn’t want to close correctly.

A: The drawers can get off track or have dust in the glides but are super easy to clean and fix.  Under the drawer there are 2 orange flippers, you’ll pull the triggers on both and hold them in the open position and slide out the drawer completely.  Use a rag to wipe the glides both in the cabinet and on the drawer. The place the drawer back in the tracks, and push it till it’s closed, and this will allow the drawer to operate smoothly.

Q: My cabinet door(s) are out of alignment with each other.

A: With normal usage the doors may need adjusting.  The hinges we use are top of the line and allow for homeowners to easily adjust them back into alignment.  One or both hinges on the door may need to be adjusted.
